Besides joining together for regular worship services at 9:30am and 6:00pm every Sunday, the members of Southwest Protestant Reformed Church enjoy many other church activities. For the children, there are six different catechism classes that meet on Monday and Saturday evenings. All school age children attend one of these six catechism classes, and there is also a class for older teenagers who have finished high school. There are also six different Bible societies at Southwest. Like the catechism classes, these societies are organized by age groups. The youngest society, Young People's Society, provides an opportunity for juniors and seniors in high school to participate in a Bible study every Sunday morning after the worship service. The Sunday Night Bible Study for post-high school teenagers meets every other Sunday evening. The rest of Southwest's Bible societies are the Adult Bible Study, the Mr. and Mrs. Society, the Men's and Ladies' Society, and the Women's Bible Study. Each of these societies meets on a scheduled weeknight every other week.
The high school students and older teenagers at Southwest often participate in a variety of fundraising events. These fundraisers usually involve volunteer work at pancake breakfasts and softball tournaments. Not only do these fundraisers encourage the young people to participate in volunteer work, but they provide a fun way for teenagers at Southwest to make enough money to attend the highlight of the year - the Protestant Reformed denomination's annual Young People's Convention!
Members at Southwest enjoy getting together for several other church events that take place at different times throughout the year. There is an annual church picnic in the first week of June. The members of the Young People's society and other small groups who enjoy singing go out Christmas caroling every year. This is always a special event for the elderly members of Southwest around Christmas time. Many members of Southwest enjoy singing Psalms and other spiritual songs, so every three months a group of around twenty people stay at church after the evening service and sing together. These are only some of the various events and activities that the members of Southwest PRC enjoy.
